J.R.S.: Just Read Sh**

CURRENT MODE: VERY UPSET!

Anybody who happens to have a package sent thru a local courier, just course it through LBC, Air 21 or DHL. I will never, ever recommend JRS Express to you guys. I've had a harrowing experience there.

In good faith, I sent a package of milk and chocolates for my wife and son to Mandaue, Cebu and entrusted them over to JRS. Apparently the guys told me that they will be sending the package in just 24 hours. This was last Tuesday. Last Wednesday, my wife texted me that she did not receive the package. Thinking that there were uncontrolled circumstances, I gave it 2 days more. But still the package didn't arrive at the address I provided.

Oh well, as a result, I went to the JRS office in downtown Bacolod. And I really felt like exploding after I told them what had happened. My cousin called me and told me that the package arrived in Cebu, the only thing different is, they don't know the location! Imagine I was enraged because my wife had sent a package to the address concerned via LBC last Christmas... and JRS doesn't know?!

What could JRS do to improve their faltering service? First, they have to automate everything... from data collection to the tracking stage. When I went there, there was no computer in sight, no assurance that the info will be encoded properly. Second, have internet access to the tracking on real-time status. Imagine when a staffer from JRS told me to wait for a week to track my package. What?! Oh well... some dumb-a** sh** there....

If JRS is listening.... you know what guys, you JUST READ SH**!

wag aksayahin ang panahon ninyo

IF YOU'RE OUT THERE...

Today is Sunday Sept. 14, 2008. Three days ago, the whole world commemorated (or if you're a Muslim extremist, "celebrated") the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Fortunately, the White House was spared as the fourth plane intended to hit it landed in a field near Shanksville in rural Somerset County, Pennsylvania after some of its passengers and flight crew attempted to retake control of the plane.

Fast forward to September 11, 2006. I started out my first day at training for ePLDT Parlance where it turned out to be the most memorable careers I had. It was in the office where I got to discover myself, discover the pleasures and... started a family.

Another fast forward... to September 11, 2008. I'm no longer w/ Parlance but with Convergys Bacolod. And while the whole world commemorated the tragedy, I downloaded some songs on my MP3 and it just happened that John Legend's songs caught my fancy again. This guy who made a monster hit out of "Ordinary People" and "Save Room" is at it once more with "Green Light", a collaboration with Andre Benjamin of Outkast, and "If You're Out There", which became an official anthem of the Democratic Party after Barack Obama's official nomination as US presidential candidate. So, to cap this article, allow me to share the lyrics of "If You're Out There" sung by John Legend.

If you hear this message, wherever you stand
I'm calling every woman, calling every man
We're the generation
We can't afford to wait
The future started yesterday and we're already late
We've been looking for a song to sing
Searched for a melody
Searched for someone to lead
We've been looking for the world to change
If you feel the same
Then go on and say

If you're out there
Sing along with me
If you're out there
I'm dying to believe that you're out there
Stand up and say it loud
If you're out there
Tomorrow's starting now
Now, now

No more broken promises
No more call to war
Unless it's love and peace that we're really fighting for
We can destroy hunger
We can conquer hate
Put down the arms and raise your voice
We're joining hands today
Oh I was looking for a song to sing
I searched for a leader
But the leader was me
We were looking for the world to change
We can be heroes
Just go on and say

If you're out there
Sing along with me
If you're out there
I'm dying to believe that you're out there
Stand up and say it loud
If you're out there
Tomorrow's starting now
Now, now
Oh now, now

If you're ready we can shake the world
Believe again
It starts within
We don't have to wait for destiny
We should be the change that we want to see

If you're out there Ooooh
If you're out there
And you're ready now
Say it loud
Scream it out

If you're out there
Sing along with me
If you're out there
I'm dying to believe that you're out there
Stand up and say it loud
If you're out there
Tomorrow's starting now

If you're out there
If you're out there
If you're out there
If you hear this message, wherever you stand
I'm calling every woman, calling every man
We're the generation
We can't afford to wait
The future started yesterday and we're already late

N' Good Times....

Last Friday was truly. truly a dream come true!

The popular hosts from Magic 89.9's uber-crazy talk show "Good Times" came on board in Bacolod City to award the keys to the brand-new, Chery QQ car to a Bacolodnon named James Phillip Cagante. Mo Twister, Mojo Jojo, Grace Lee and Andi9 graced the Killerbee studios located in downtown Bacolod and boy oh boy, it was a blast. The guys displayed great camaraderie and crude humor present in their show. And I guarantee you guys, it was a real blower! The recurring jokes on Mojo Jojo's sexuality and Grace Lee's enormous "twin peaks" were there, especially Andi9 and Grace Lee's "clueless innocence" when DJ Mo declared they will be going to Cebu where they will be meeting the "Ceburats". Andi and Grace thought he was talking about rats until they find out that he was actually talking about something "green"...

Anyway, the radio show was not complete without the music of course! In between music, the "Good Timers" treated everyone at the booth (including yours truly) for softdrinks, water and peanuts. Of course, dahil 'di tayo magpapatalo, I got to crack some jokes with the four of them. Despite being famous right now on morning radio, TV and yes, even the Internet, the four still manage to act just like one of us. One thing that I cannot forget about Mo Twister was when he noticed me playing with my cellphone and he asked me what I had on my wallpaper, I immediately showed him the pictures of my son. He asked me what was the name of my son and I immediately answered "Horizon Shane". He was quite surprised because it was unusual to hear somebody naming the kid "Horizon". More than that, I'm also impressed with Andi and Grace, they really make you feel important... but of course I felt like on Cloud 9.

The whole day was really enjoyable because the Good Timers were mobbed by their fans, and I even acted as their P.A. for just a day. Good thing that I was able to withstand the traffic, their demands, and even the mob! It was a delight to buy Chicken Inasal just for my crush Andi9 ('coz she requested for it!). And how I wished that I got the number of Grace Lee but too bad.... she's taken just like me (sheesh!) . When I tagged along at the airport to send them off, (sigh!) , I made a resolution to go back to radio and entertain people.

How I wish that day will really come.

Of Sarah Palin, teenage pregnancies, and Crush(es)

Republican John Mc Cain has recently chosen his running mate for the VP post, and it's a female.

Sarah Palin, 44 years of age and Governor of Alaska was named Mc Cain's vice presidential pick last weekend following the most talked about Democratic National Convention where Democrat candidate Barack Obama chose fellow Senator Joe Biden as running mate instead of choosing rival Hillary Clinton.

Palin's ascent to the vice presidential post intrigued me the most, considering the fact that it rans straight in contrast to Mc Cain's "tira" against Obama about being inexperienced. And it also intrigues me because of Sarah Palin's name....

If you noticed, the name Sarah Palin may sound Filipino.

'Di nyo pa na gets? Think again.

Sarah Palin is actually a compounded Tagalog phrase for "sarap sampalin"...

(Eto ang pruweba... ang phrase na "sarap sampalin" can be shortened to "sarapalin".... gets!?)

*****************************************************

Speaking of Sarah Palin, many have been saying that she is a pro-life public official and espouses abstinence-only education as opposed to explicit sex-ed programs in schools.

She has also said that she would permit abortion only in cases where the mother's life is in danger, and supports mandatory parental consent for abortions. She is also supportive of contraception.

But all of these pro-life statements are now put to test now that her daughter Bristol, 17 years old, is pregnant.

Bristol is just another case of the "Juno effect", a term named after the hit comedy flick "Juno" (which tackled the travails of a pregnant teen). Think Jamie Lynn Spears, or in the Philippines, think Valerie Concepcion who bore a kid in their early teens. This puts Sarah Palin's pro-life stance on the line....

Would she permit abortion on the baby if the pregnancy posts danger to her daughter's life? If she supports mandatory parental consent for abortion, would she have forced Bristol to abort the baby? If she is pro-contraceptive, why didn't she tell Bristol to use condoms or pills everytime her daughter has sex with a guy? Most of all, why didn't she tell Bristol to abstain from sex if she was pro-abstinence?

Now if Sarah Palin's name came from the Filipino word "sarap sampalin", her daughter Bristol could have been named Ma. Sarah Palin, short for "mas masarap sampalin".

Ouch!?

Recently, I have just listened to David Archuleta's now popular ditty "Crush" and I realized hey, it's not a bad song after all. I have been pro-David Cook during Archuleta's stint in "American Idol" but with this song, I have learned to appreciate his voice. So allow me to share the lyrics... and we sing along! This song is dedicated to all my crushes...and to my wife and kids!

CRUSH by David Archuleta

I hung up the phone tonight
something happened for the first time, deep inside
It was a rush, what a rush

Cause the possibility that you would ever
Feel the same way about me
It’s just too much, just too much
Why do I keep running from the truth
All I ever think about is you
You got me hypnotized, so mesmerized, and I just got to know

Do you ever think, when you’re all alone
All that we could be,
Where this thing could go
Am I crazy or falling in love
Is it real or just another crush
Do you catch a breath, when I look at you
Are you holding back, like the way I do
Cause I’m trying, trying to walk away
But I know this crush ain’t goin away, goin away

Has it ever crossed your mind when we were hanging
Spending time girl, are we just friends
Is there more, is there more

See it’s a chance we’ve gotta take
Cause I believe we can make this into
Something that will last, last forever, forever

Do you ever think, when you’re all alone
All that we could be, Where this thing could go
Am I crazy or falling in love
Is it real or just another crush
Do you catch a breath, when I look at you
Are you holding back, like the way I do
Cause I’m trying, trying to walk away
But I know this crush ain’t goin away, goin away

Why do I keep running from the truth
All I ever think about is you
You got me hypnotized, so mesmerized
And I just got to know

Do you ever think, when you’re all alone
All that we could be,
Where this thing could go
Am I crazy or falling in love

Is it real or just another crush
Do you catch a breath, when I look at you
Are you holding back, like the way I do
Cause I’m trying, trying to walk away
But I know this crush ain’t goin away, goin away
